Cleansing the skin using the 'oil cleansing method' is becoming increasingly popular. It involves gently cleansing your skin with a mix of two or more oils. You decide how your mix of cleansing oils is composed!

Oil cleansing method

THE BASIC: WHAT DO WE MEAN BY OIL CLEANSING?

With the oil cleansing method (OCM), you cleanse the skin before you go to sleep using an oil mixture that suits your skin type. The oil cleansing method is therefore a replacement for a 'normal' cleaner. Cleansing your skin is an important ritual, especially before nightfall. Clean skin absorbs care products better. And not unimportant: clean skin stays beautiful for longer! Leaving your makeup on in the evening is really not a good idea to wake up fresh. Oil cleansing gently removes both impurities and makeup. One of the advantages is that with this natural method you no longer need foaming (drying) cleansers.

SUITABLE FOR EVERY SKIN TYPE

Everyone can benefit from OCM. It is important that you adjust the composition of the oils to your skin type. Oily skin has different needs than dry skin. Castor oil or castor oil is often mentioned as a basis for oil cleansing. This is because castor oil has a cleansing effect and removes impurities well. It is a thick oil in composition, but it does not clog the pores. Castor oil actually helps to remove excess sebum. In short, the principle of OCM is: 'fat dissolves fat'. This is effective for all skin types, as long as you use an appropriate recipe. The drier your skin, the lower the proportion of castor oil in your OCM routine.

WHICH OILS DO YOU USE FOR OCM?

As you read above, castor oil is often used as a basis for oil cleansing. This oil cleanses, but does not dry out your skin. In general, the oilier your skin is, the higher the proportion of castor oil that is recommended. Below we provide a few oil cleansing recipes for various skin types. Little time? Then take a look at one of the delicious combinations , such as castor oil with sage !

To cleanse, take the oil mixture in your hand and massage it onto your face. After the massage, place a clean, lukewarm washcloth on your face so that you can remove all impurities. Repeat as necessary until the skin is clean and feels clean. Rinse your face the next morning and you're ready to go!

REMOVE EYE MAKE-UP WITH OIL

Jojoba oil and argan oil are good options. These oils are gentle on your eyes, but not too greasy. Apply the oil to a damp cotton pad and your makeup will be gone in no time.

BUYING OCM OIL: THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO.

Ready to get started with your oil cleansing recipe? Then it is important to always use an unscented oil. This is especially true if you have sensitive skin. Even a natural perfume can irritate your face, so be careful. At castorolie.nl you can buy pure castor oil from different brands, without additives such as perfume! You can use both black and cold-pressed use castor oil. Black castor oil still contains ash residues and has a higher PH value. This would cleanse the skin even better. Yet many people opt for the skin cold-pressed variant because it is said to have been the least processed and therefore retains all the good properties.
