Dudu osun or African black soap is one of the beauty secrets of African women. The soap is handmade by women in West African countries such as Ghana. Dudu osun soap is a versatile product. You can use it as a shower product, as a facial cleanser and as a shampoo. The soap is both cleansing and caring and can be used for all skin types. Even impure skin benefits from it. Because dudu osun is 100% natural, you don't have to worry about chemical additives.

WHAT EXACTLY IS DUDU OSUN SOAP?

Dudu Osun or African Black Soap is sometimes said to be the only 100% natural soap available. The soap is made by African women from local raw materials such as cocoa bean pods, palm leaves and palm oil. The leaves and peels that the women have picked are dried in the sun. They are then roasted in a pot at a constant temperature. This process is called 'etu' ('burned medicines'). During the 'etu' process, the leaves and peels get the right texture. After this process, water, oil and possibly shea butter are added to the soap. The mixture with the leaves, water and oil is stirred for at least one day. After stirring, the dudu osun is stored for another two weeks before it is ready for use. The color of the soap is irregular and varies from brown to almost black.

EACH PIECE OF AFRICAN BLACK SOAP IS UNIQUE.

Because dudu osun is handmade, each piece is different. Each tribe has its own special manufacturing recipe. Such a recipe is passed down generation after generation. What real African black soaps have in common is that they are produced organically with only natural ingredients. The ingredients and appearance of the soap may differ per strain, but they all have a similar effect on the skin.

USE DUDU OSUN FOR (IMPURE) SKIN AND HAIR

Dudu osun contains three types of ingredients: roasted leaves or peels, oil or shea butter (or a combination thereof), water and possibly essential oil. The combination of cleansing and moisturizing ingredients is beneficial for impure skin, among other things. The ash of cocoa shells or roasted leaves form the basis. This part of the dudu osun ingredients cleans and exfoliates the skin. It may well be that you feel 'pieces' in the soap when you hold it in your hands.

The shea butter, palm oil or coconut oil in African black soap have a moisturizing function. They ensure well-nourished, soft skin. Finally, the essential oil has the function of providing a fresh scent. Some essential oils, such as lavender, also have a cleansing effect. Beneficial for troubled skin, because it combats the impurities that cause pimples. Because dudu osun is both nourishing and cleansing, the product can be used in multiple ways in your care routine.

DUDU OSUN AS CARE FOR IMPURED SKIN

Dudu osun can have a soothing effect on skin with impurities. You can thoroughly cleanse your skin and care for it at the same time. The exfoliating and purifying ingredients make your skin fresh and clean, while the oil or shea butter in the product hydrates your skin. It is important that impure skin is also well nourished. Massage the dudu osun onto your face or body with your hands and then rinse. Build up use carefully and see how your skin reacts.

USING DUDU OSUN FOR THE SKIN

You can use African black soap to clean your body, face and hair. What many people notice during their first Dudu Osun experience is that the product foams surprisingly well. If you want to exfoliate in the shower, you can massage the dudu osun directly, but gently, onto your body.

If you want to use dudu osun for sensitive skin or for your face, we recommend first foaming it in your hands and gently massaging it in from your hands. If you apply the soap directly during use, the exfoliating ingredients can damage the delicate skin of your face. After massaging into your face, rinse the soap with lukewarm water.

Useful to know: by applying the soap to a cotton pad, you can also remove your make-up. Please note that dudu osun is a soap product, so it may sting your eyes.

Because African black soap cleans so well, the soap can also dry out a bit for some people. Therefore, use a moisturizer or skin oil afterwards to maintain the moisture level of your skin. Dudu osun is best stored in a container, where you can let it dry after use.

USE DUDU OSUN AS A SHAMPOO

You can use Dudu Osun to wash your hair. It cleans thoroughly, but without the addition of sulphates, for example. African Black Soap provides softness and volume, especially for frizzy hair. However, experience with Dudu Osun is that the soap can make your hair a bit drier. We therefore recommend using a care product such as conditioner or apple cider vinegar after washing your hair.

BUY DUDU OSUN? THIS IS HOW YOU RECOGNIZE A PURE PRODUCT.

More and more people want to buy Dudu Osun for its effective, natural ingredients. As a result, more and more products are coming onto the market that are called dudu osun or african black soap, but are not completely natural. Many of these soaps contain added color and fragrances. They are often uniformly black in color and it is not the handmade dudu osun with 100% natural ingredients.

Real dudu osun is (dark) brown or almost black in color, and not even. The color and structure are irregular and the product is often somewhat malleable. Dudu osun is odorless, or has the scent of a natural oil such as mint or lavender. So it looks a bit coarse, but you can take great care of yourself with it.
