TYPES OF CASTOR OIL

COLD PRESSED CASTOR OIL VS BLACK CASTOR OIL

Now what is the difference between cold-pressed castor oil and Jamaican black castor oil ? This has to do with the production process. This makes the cold-pressed castor oil different from the black castor oil in terms of color, smell, composition and the oil.

DIFFERENCE IN PRODUCTION

Cold-pressed castor oil is extracted from castor seeds by pressing the seeds under great pressure. This keeps the oil lighter, cleaner and thinner, because the castor beans are not roasted or roasted.

Jamaican black castor oil (JBCO) contains oil from castor beans that have been roasted. After roasting, the seeds are mashed and cooked in a large cauldron, according to the traditional Caribbean method. The final oil extracted from this also contains ash from roasting. The oil is therefore somewhat thicker and darker in color. For the JBCO 'Extra Dark' the beans are roasted for extra long and therefore contain even more ash. The smell of Jamaican Black Castor Oil is also different and stronger cold pressed castor oil. Whether you like the scent is very personal.

WHICH TYPE OF CASTOR OIL IS BEST?

First things first: all castor oil is deeply nourishing and moisturizing. Which castor oil is best for you depends on your personal preference and what you want to use it for. For example, Jamaican black castor oil is often used for a balanced scalp and strong hair, but can also be used in the Oil Cleansing Method . Because the oil contains ash, it has a higher PH value. Although it has never been scientifically proven, the oil is said to contain extra cleansing properties due to the higher PH value and penetrate deeper into the hair and skin.

The cold-pressed oil is also used for hair and skin and is somewhat thinner and more neutral in smell. It is also seen by some as the somewhat 'purer' form.

For this reason, cold-pressed oil is often chosen for skin care. In addition, some people claim that the cold-pressed version contains more nutrients because they are not lost when cooking the beans.
